Happy Hour at 54 Mint
Note: All wine reviews will be scored by the Notebook system of: Thumbs Up/ok/thumbs down.
Last summer I sublet my apartment in San Francisco to a guy from Brooklyn who was taking a job managing a restaurant downtown. It’s been almost a year since I’ve seen Gianluca and thought it would be fun to stop by 54 Mint for happy hour. Tasting notes:
Salice Salentino “Maiana” De Castris ’06 (left side)
Juicy, off dry wine “without” the bitter aftertaste that I find in a lot of bone dry Italian reds. This wine fills your glass with dark fruits like blackberry and currents. $11/glass. Notebook Rating: Thumbs Up
Vermentino di Sardegna “Donnikalia” ’09 (right side)
Round, well balanced wine with notes of apricot and peach. I wish it had a bit more acidity. $10/glass. Notebook Rating: OK
